How to choose a centrifuge tube for a centrifuge

The centrifuge tube is mainly made of plastic and stainless steel. The commonly used materials for plastic centrifuge tubes are polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC) and the like. Among them, the performance of PP tube is good. The advantage of plastic centrifuge tube is transparent (or translucent), the hardness is small, the gradient can be taken by puncture method, the defect is easy to deform, the corrosion resistance to organic solvent is poor, the service life is short; the strength of stainless steel centrifuge tube is large. It is non-deformable, can resist frost, heat and chemical corrosion, but it should be used to prevent contact with highly corrosive chemicals such as strong acids and alkalis.

Here we mainly introduce plastic centrifuge tubes: plastic centrifuge tubes have tube caps, and the tube caps must be tightly sealed before centrifugation. The tube cover has three functions: 1 to avoid sample leakage, when used for samples with radioactivity or strong corrosivity; 2 to avoid sample evaporation; 3 to support the centrifuge tube to avoid deformation of the centrifuge tube.
